"Reaching people for Christ: helping thousands of people out of poverty into a sustainable future"

Volunteers from Norway and South Africa pack MWB food boxes

With almost one in ten people going hungry across Eastern Europe this winter, volunteers, including MWB supporters from Norway and South Africa, are currently packing Operation Christmas Love (OCL) boxes with essential foods.

Volunteers Packing OCL Boxes In Moldova

In response to thousands of families and elderly people not having enough to feed themselves during the coldest months of the year, we are currently preparing OCL food boxes to see them through the worst of the winter.

In Moldova, 40 students from Grenland Folkehøgskole from Norway helped pack boxes with flour, sugar, rice, oatmeal, pasta, canned food, oil, tea, sweets. They then delivered them to old, lonely and rejected people across the country.

In Romania, ten local volunteers from Sibiu county have packed 7,000 OCL boxes.

While in Ukraine, supporters visiting from South Africa are helping MWB co-ordinator Stanislav Boyko to distribute boxes to villagers living around Rivne. Stanislav says that "Operation Christmas Love is great opportunity to reach people for Christ as we talk about the meaning of Christmas and give out the food boxes."

Patru Family OCL12Last year we managed to distribute over 30,000 OCL boxes. For the Patru family in Romania (right), the OCL delivery was a "treasure. Every item is very welcome and useful. It is a precious gift for all of us. I don't know what we would have done without it. This is a real blessing from God."

Dhurata OCL12Dhurata (left), in Albania says, "We have very little, so it is unthinkable for us to celebrate. We keep praying to God to provide us with our daily bread. This OCL parcel came as a gift from God. It gave us the strength to go on. Thank you for showing so much love and care. The OCL box is not only valuable for the food it contains but because it reassures us that someone is thinking of us."
